Where are you staying in Sydney?

I have one option for you - it is a backpacker hostel (Balmain Backpackers) 5 minutes walk from SCA in Rozelle. 5 minute bus ride to city centre. Its a long term place, the rooms are small, clean, presentable (aint the hilton) full of young foreigners travelling around Australia who stay for a month or six (= much partying so at times it is noisy) and is run by a very charming young man who happens to be my son (ahem). The atmos is kind of like a group house with people coming and going and hanging around. (Yesterday there were two swedish girls wrapped in blankets sitting on the floor waiting for the computers to be free and two German guys having a cigarette on the balcony.) You can book a 4 room dorm like the one pictured with its own bathroom for $25AUS per night per person which is about the cheapest accommodation you can buy in Sydney. This is the first option I can think of, so far at the cheapest end. Google Sydney accommodation and if you come up with something and want me to check it out for you let me know. Evan (my son ) is contactable by email for questions or if you want to book it. Just tell him you know me.

Birthday in Sydney

We slept in behind the humming cafe. When I had woken at 6am it was raining buckets as only tropical storms can do.
We drove to RoseBay down Fig-lined streets past the harbour and bought the best croissants in Sydney.
We took a blanket to a secluded rock round the heads from North Bondi and talked about whales in the Autumn sunshine.
We made a post for EC.
Hope everyone else has as great an April 8th as I'm having.
