so, reading ash's response and comments to chris' idea of netting new york city, which led her to think about what is kept inside by security and gates and bars on windows in sydney. the restrictions. the separation from your surroundings. but most importantly (in my mind) the denial of something by a barrier, or a net and the desire for security, even if it's at a lost to yourself.
i tried to think about how i think about these things - barriers, security, nets. and the first thing that came to mind was the internet. access to information/misinformation and the wondrous moments when all that information is lost.
then i decided to look up the error codes that pop up when a website is not perfect. the ones that i linked to here or listed i thought tapped into that whole notion of being denied something for your own good, etc.
