How good is your knowledge of American history?

Help?!
So..I'm redoing my video of mapping Australia, and joining it up with a piece about the colonisation of Australia and America with these little paper canoes I've been making/am still making.
To tie it all together I'm thinking the boats (which will be on the ground) need to be moving around or toward a symbol or phrase which can be on the wall or ground.

This is where I need your help.
Do you know of any terms used to describe white settlement in American history?
Here we have terms like "200 years of white lies" and "The Stolen Generation" which refer to the displacement of native people with white settlement.
I'm looking for the Native American equivalent.

I may end up using a less negative term, something to do with discovery (that could even work) or a term that signifies the way both Australia and America share a history of colonisation or native population. So any suggestions for any terms would be extremely helpful, really!

Also...does anyone know the name of that stuff (I'm good with descriptive words) that we were discussing in Sydney to cut letters/words out of and stick on the wall? I think it's white or clear. I'm thinking it was vinyl or a thick contact type of material but I could be horribly wrong....

i don't know if we have a similar phrase for that... the best we've come to acknowledging culturally that we displaced a whole race of civilized people is that we don't call them indians anymore. most of our colonization was centered around religion - converting the heathens from columbus to the puritans. i'll think more on this....
