Ok. We have progress.
With the help of Meghan, the printing guru, I just printed 60 boats in just under 2 hours. So, the dream (or nightmare, depending on how you look at it) of having a couple of hundred boats could very likely be a possibility.
I have finished all the tracing paper I brought over with me, so I will go to Staples and buy more tonight. I'm also going to try and get some A3 paper so we can have some really big boats breaking it up, too.
So if I can grab a couple of hours to just print, print, print every couple of days and we have a little boat making operation going then things should be sweeeeet!
I know Monday night is boat making mania with my little helpers =]
My foot video...is going to be reshot. The one I used in Sydney is terribly unstable, and the reshoot I did is just as terrible because the sun is up and strong very early back home now so even filming at 7am had shadow as soon as I turned to imprint the bottom of the map.
Soooooo....I want to film it again here in New York. I think this will have a better meaning because I'm mapping out my home country in a foreign country, and the sounds of New York will play nicely against the vision of Australia which everyone seems to imagine as a peaceful, quiet country.
I think Central Park is the place to go, but if anyone has any other suggestions of somewhere fairly easy for a tourist to get to that has gravel/sand/grass/anything that can I can leave an impression on, that would be greatly appreciated!
That's all for now, folks

CONEY Island (which is a long beach) for sand...40 minute train trip!
Origato gozaimasu!!
dream large dream 500....
a thought: if you did your mapping video on concrete with wet feet it would leave a trail behind you....
chris i had the same thought earlier...
I like the idea of the wet feet on concrete. I tried something similar in Sydney with broken chalk that resembled eart/dust, but the trail disappeared very quickly.
I will give the wet footprints a go though =]
Thanks kids!
